Robert Dennis Melton Sr.

Robert Dennis Melton Sr., 71, of Blackshear, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at his residence, after an extended illness.  

He was born in Waycross to the late E.Z. Melton and Mildred Scott Melton. He had made Blackshear his home for his entire life. He worked as a maker of Bamboo Shoes for the Pierce County Shoe Factory.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, E.Z. Melton Jr. and Billy Ray Melton and a daughter-in-law, Pam Melton.

Survivors include his wife, Oveida Melton, Blackshear; four children, Robert Dennis Melton Jr. and his fiance, Amanda Morris, Blackshear, Janice Johnson and her husband David, Brantley County, James Edward Melton Sr. and his wife Lisa and Jennifer Melton and her husband Bryan Jones, all of Blackshear; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Melton and Tommy Melton and his wife Donna, all of Blackshear and Jerry Melton, Waycross and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

Visitation will take place from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, from the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. 

Interment will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
