Richard Otis Carroll

Richard Otis Carroll,  53, of Ponce De Leon, FL, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019. 

He was born February 6, 1966 in Ocala, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Odis Carroll Sr., his mother, Sibyl Carolyn Bell and his uncle Charles West.

He grew up in Blackshear and graduated from Pierce County High School and then attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, CA and settled in Atlanta, where he worked in commercial and executive security, travel and merchandising, as well as real estate development. He returned to Ponce De Leon to help his mother in her battle with cancer and retired as a land baron in Prosperity, FL. He volunteered in his community with the Guardian ad Litem Program helping at-risk youth in both Holmes and Washington counties.

Survivors include his aunt with which he had a special bond, Olean West, Pensacola, FL; siblings, Larry J. Carroll, St Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and Rita LaTorella, Ponce De Leon, FL; nieces and nephews, Davide, Damon LaTorella and Dominique LaTorella and her son, Ezra LaTorella, all of Florida and his godchildren, James, Camden, Ethan, and Helen Page, all of Atlanta. 

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home, 2744 West Magnolia Avenue, Geneva, AL.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m.   Friday, April 26, from the Beulah Anna Cemetery in Westville, FL.
