Melissa Miller Walsh

Melissa Miller Walsh, 65, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoo, January 24, 2021, at Memorial Hospital  in Jacksonville, FL, following a short illness.

Born December 25, 1955 in Colquitt, she was a daughter of Willie Miller and the late Jeanett Smith Peacock. She grew up in Colquitt and moved to Pierce County in 1983. She was a homemaker for most of her life and had babysit and helped to raise many children over the years. Some were her own children, many others were from other families but treated like hers. She loved them all and was affectionately known as Meme. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Omer Peacock; her brother, Tony Miller and three grandchildren, Bailey Baldwin, Harley Baldwin and Reid Brown.

Survivors include her husband, Michael L. Walsh, Blackshear; four children, Christy Joyner (husband Mark), Blackshear, David Aultman (wife Tia), Blackshear, John Brown (wife Jessica), Hahira and Michael Walsh (wife Christina), Blackshear; 11 grandchildren, Cassandra Joyner, Atlanta, Macie Joyner, Statesboro, Lindsay Joyner James (husband Randall), Waycross, Payton Joyner (wife Mary), Birmingham, AL, Dean Aultman (wife Chelsea), Kristian Aultman, Willie Aultman and Mikey Walsh, all of Blackshear and Trey Brown, Kyler Davis and Ryder Brown, all of Hahira; four great-grandchildren, Fletcher James, Rylee Aultman, Brayden Aultman, and Eloise Joyner; her dad and step-mother, Willie and Mary Beth Miller, Donalsonville;  two sisters, Rachel M. Harden, Bainbridge and Sheila Miller, Colquitt; nieces, Tina Worthington (husband Eric), Toni Chance (husband Blake), and Amy Summerlin (husband Jeff); nephew, Phil Harden (wife Tammy) and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.

A private family service will take place.
