Melinda Elizabeth Barry Smith, 53, died Saturday morning, October 17, 2020, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following an extended illness.
She was born and raised in Moultrie and had made her home in Ware and Pierce Counties since 1993.
She received her early education in the Colquitt County School System and was a graduate of Moultrie Technical College with a degree in Drafting. She was an Engineer Technician with the Georgia Department of Transportation for 10 years.
She will be remembered as a person that enjoyed meeting people and participating in numerous social activities.
Survivors include two sons, Jonathan Morgan Barry of Waycross and Alexander M. Barry (wife Marisa) of Brantley County; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Barry, Janice Sue Barry and Serenity Mae Barry; her parents Robert L. and Janice Newton Barry, Moultrie; a sister Sonja Barry Thompson (husband Randy), Moultrie; a brother Christopher Anderson Barry (wife Beth Kersey Barry), Moultrie; a nephew Blake Thompson and other relatives.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Music Funeral Home of Waycross is in charge of arrangements.
