Mary Wanell “Nell” Crawford Dixon, 70, of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon, January 20, 2020, at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.

Born in Patterson, March 8, 1949, she lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was a Patterson High School graduate and worked as a florist with the Blackshear Flower and Gift Shop as well as the former Shamrock Flower Shop prior to working at Gibson Animal Clinic. She loved being with her family and was a big animal lover. She also loved to read her Bible and enjoyed working in her yard planting flowers and tending to them.  She had been a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church prior to moving her membership to the Blackshear Church of God where she remained active until her health began to fail. 

She was a daughter of the late Frank and Nora Hyers Crawford. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Franklin Crawford.

Survivors include her three daughters, Lisa (Tommy) Peacock, Hawkinsville, Dana (Steve) Hodgins, Vidalia and Brandi Todd, Statesboro; three sisters, Alene Crawford, Joan (Paul) Lyle and Lawanna (John) Sumner, all of Jacksonville, FL; her grandson, Jordan Peacock, Warner Robins; her former husbands, Wallace Boatright, Mershon – the father of her three daughters, and Califf Dixon, Blackshear and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Patterson.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 25, from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Bacon County.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Rick & Nancy Allmon, 2988 Midway Church Road, Blackshear, GA  31516, to help with animal rescue.
