Mary Joan Baxter Graham

Mary Joan Baxter Graham, 81, of Blackshear, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 13, 2022, at her residence.

Born in Blackshear, April 9, 1941, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. She was a 1959 graduate of Blackshear High School and was a retired federal loan officer for the USDA Farm Service Agency. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed going on family vacations together with them. In her spare time, she enjoyed canning, fishing, dancing, and going to the beach. She was a member of Ward Memorial Church.

She was a daughter of the late John J. and Irma Kathleen Johnson Baxter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carrol William “Bill” Graham; a sister, Joyce Baxter Sisk; a brother, David Baxter and a grandchild, Joshua Wood.

Survivors include her four daughters, Debbie McCullars, Blackshear, Terri (Teddy) Hobbs, Hilliard, FL, Pam (Reggie) Popham, Blackshear and Karen (Johnny) Thrift, Waycross; eight grandchildren, Tanji (Jamey) Cribbs, Joseph (Emilee) Hobbs, Chad (Amanda) Hobbs, Michael (Loretta) Jones, Tavis Popham, Chase (Simone) Popham, Shayna (Cliff) Corbitt and Dakota Thrift (Maegan Holton); 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Shirley Graham, Baxley; a special niece, Kathleen (Hank) Askins, Charleston, SC; two special nephews, Gordy Sisk, Atlanta and Scotty Graham, Hazlehurst and several nieces, other nephews, and relatives.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Ward Memorial Church.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 16, from Ward Memorial Church.

Interment will be in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
