Mary Elizabeth Rowell Manning

Mary Elizabeth Rowell Manning, 62, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning, August 19, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, following an extended illness.

Born January 30, 1960, in Waycross, she was a daughter of the late Robert “Rob” and Bessie Smith Rowell. She grew up in Waycross and moved to Pierce County around 1980. She had worked at Lollipop for several years and attended Walkerville Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Joseph Braxton Manning and three brothers, Jerry Rowell, Jim Rowell and Johnny Rowell.

Survivors include three children, Melissa Manning Matthews (husband Joseph), Woodstock, Nicholas Manning, Mershon and Ryan Manning, Waycross; seven grandchildren, Ashley Nobles (husband Spence) and Madison Manning, both of Alma, Gavin Manning, Patterson, Joseph Ryan “Jo Jo” Manning Jr., Waycross, Brittany Manning and Preston Manning, both of Newport, TN and Laiklee Manning, Douglas; a great-granddaughter expected shortly; two sisters,  Jeanette McCarthy (husband Atley) and Rita Calvo, both of Waycross; a brother, Alan Rowell, Bickley and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Walkerville Cemetery.
