L. A. Harris, 84, of Blackshear, passed away early Monday morning, December 30, 2019, at his residence.

He was born in Screven  June 5, 1935 and had lived in West Palm Beach for many years before moving to Blackshear in 2003. He loved to work with his hands, especially in construction. He loved his family dearly. He was a member of the Blackshear Church of God.

He was a son of the late Elmer and Lottie Griffis Harris. He was also preceded in death by his five sisters, Evelyn Hargrove, Ela Harris, Mildred Ambrose, BeBe Harris and Judy Harris and a brother, Lamar Harris.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Peace Harris, Blackshear; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Lynn Harris (Jay) McDonald, Dania Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, from the the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Ritch Baptist Church Cemetery in Wayne County.
