Kathern Dixon Ricks, 76, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.

Born in Blackshear, November 14, 1943, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life.  She was a 1961 graduate of Blackshear High School where she was the salutatorian. For the past 38 years, she has been a bus driver for the Pierce County Board of Education. She loved to spend time with her grandbabies and enjoyed cooking and working in her church, Hopewell Baptist Church. She was in the Adult Sunday school and the Ladies Circle at Hopewell Baptist.

She was a daughter of the late James Elmer Dixon and Gladys Alene Boyett Dixon.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Osborn Dixon and Raymond Dixon.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, the Rev. M. L. Ricks, Blackshear; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Diane Turner and James Crawford, all of Blackshear; three grandchildren, David Turner Jr., Emily Turner and Devan “Boo” Turner; a sister, Elvera Carter, Blackshear; a brother, Oran Dixon, Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
