Jerome Thornton, 85, of Bristol, died Monday, June 8, 2020, at Harborview-Pierce County in Blackshear.
A native of Appling County, he was a son of the late Odell and Cora Bell Olliff Thornton. He was a carpet company owner and loved to farm and fish. He also loved to peddle fruits and vegetables at the crossroads in Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Angie Denison Thornton and his sisters, Mercelle Turner, Infant Dorothy Thornton, Monteen Thornton and Ruby Thornton and by a brother, Harvey Thornton.
Survivors include four daughters, Lawanna T. Chandler, Athens, Debbie (Derwin) Griffin, Waycross, Teresa (Jeffery) Reese, Fitzgerald and Renee Akins, High Springs, FL; a son, Robert “Buddy” (Susie) Thornton, Bristol and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the Lake Chapel Cemetery in Appling County.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the Lake Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Derwin Griffin and Elder Jason Deal officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
