Janice Delean Sturges Pittman, 63 of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2020, at her residence, following a sudden illness.
Born in Homerville, May 13, 1956, she had lived in Wayne County for several years before moving to Pierce County recently. She had worked in mobile home sales but was currently a homemaker. She enjoyed doing crafts and reading and was always eager to learn something new. She had also loved to sing karaoke and dance and spend time with her friends. She dearly loved her grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Walter Jr. and Lucille Musgrove Sturges. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lester Pittman; two sisters, Debra Gail Andrews and Bertha Lou Perritt and by a brother, James Denny “Jim” Sturges.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Angel and Tim Douglas, Hoboken and Tanya and David Roberson, Jesup; her companion, Roy Bowers, Blackshear; two sisters, Patricia Cribb, Waycross and Barbara (Craig) Johnson, Blackshear; five brothers, Larry (Faye) Sturges, Walter Sturges, Jimmy (Sandy) Sturges, Jerome Sturges and Tony (Tammy) Sturges, all of Waycross; six grandchildren, Chet Cottingham, Ty Douglas, Hannah Roberson, Zoe Roberson, Sophie Roberson and Manon Roberson; three great-grandchildren, Ireland, Charlie and Wade and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home.
Memorialization is by cremation.
