Gloria Jean Moore Stokes, 76, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday evening, April 30, 2020, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born November 8, 1943 in Albertville, AL, she was a daughter of the late Arnold Stafford and Jeanette Mooneyham Moore. She had lived in Waycross for about 15 years before moving to Pierce County in 1990. She worked for 18 years as a waitress for Holiday Inn in Waycross, retiring in 1999.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Arthur Stokes; a step-son, Cleve Stokes; a grandson, Joshua Stokes; two sisters, Mary Lynn Sharpe and Janice Bell and two brothers, Kenny Moore and Bobby Moore.
Survivors include her four children, Keith Shiver, Nicholls, Kevin Roberts, Middleburg, FL, George Stokes, Blackshear and Heather Stephens, Box Springs; three step-children, Terri Grant (husband Sandy), Middleburg, FL, Aletha Montefalcon, Orange Park, FL, and Steve Stokes, Orange Park, FL; seven grandchildren, Shealy Smith, Millwood, Adrianna Stokes and Vallory Stokes, both of Blackshear, Caleb Stokes and Corey Stokes, both of Brunswick and Austin Stephens and Dawson Stephens, both of Mauk; three sisters, Wanda Dawson, Betty Armstrong, and Elaine Johnson, all of Green Cove Springs, FL; three brothers, Larry Moore (wife Sherry), St. Augustine, FL, Jerry Moore, Starke, FL, and Ricky Moore, Green Cove Springs, FL and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in the Moore Cemetery in Bickley.
