Jones Mattox

Glenda Sue Jones Mattox, 80, of Alma, passed away at her residence in Pierce County Saturday, December 19, 2020, after a short illness.  

She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late George Jones and Ora Lee Boatright Jones and was preceded in death by her husband, J. Walter Mattox and a brother, Jerry Jones. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Pierce County.  

Survivors include a son Jay Mattox (Gloria), Alma; a daughter, Kay Mattox (Larry), Alma; two brothers, Spencer Jones (Betty), Alma, Howard Jones (Eunice), Mershon; a dear friend, Margaret Hyers, Pierce County, seven grandchildren, Leve Boatright (Dara), Lara Carter (Colby Barber)  and Wesley Mattox, all of Alma, Lee Dusterieck (Steven), Blackshear, Michael Carter (Kristi), West Green and Billy Chancy and Jeremy Crews; eight great-grandchildren and a special companion, Bella.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, at Beulah Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, from the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Tuttle and the Rev. Loren Bryant officiating. 

Active pallbearers will be Leve Boatright, Michael Carter, Jerome Jones, Johnny Allen, Tommy Peacock and Wesley Mattox.

Crosby Funeral Home of Alma is in charge of arrangements.
