Evelyn Lurray Fross Griffin

Evelyn Lurray Fross Griffin, 89, of Blackshear, died Friday, January 8, 2021, at her residence after an extended illness.

He was born in Seattle, Washington to the late John G. Fross and Loretta Alice Welson Fross and made Waycross and Blackshear her home since 1959. She was a strong woman, raising nine children she was an exceptional cook and homemaker. She loved her children and grandchildren and time spent with them.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Edwin” J. Griffin Sr.; four children, Edward Griffin Jr., John Henry Griffin, Roberta Lynn Griffin, Morris Griffin; four siblings, John F. Fross, Lula Sunde, Charlotte Rutledge and Helen Florence.

Survivors include five children, Robert Griffin, Waycross, Connie G. Strickland, Blackshear, Letha G. Buie husband Alan, Florence, SC, Melba Jean Cook, Blackshear, Clifton M. Griffin, Waycross; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Wooten of Oklahoma and Eunice Fross of Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 A visitation will be held  from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home.
