Mother Estella Jones Edwards

Mother Estella Jones Edwards, 93, of Bristol, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020. 

She was one of five children born to the late King David (Dave) Jones and Mary Booth Jones in Mershon June 20, 1926. 

She grew up in Bristol Georgia where she later met and married Sampson Edwards. As a youth, she was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Bristol. She later joined Union Chapel Baptist Church, Mershon, where she was a faithful and active member, including serving as Mother of the Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four children, Laura Cooper, Henry (Jim) Edwards, Johnny Edwards and Martha Cooper; one grandson, Curtis Edwards and four siblings, She was preceded in death by her children, Johnny Williams, Roberta White, Katherine Jones and Norene Gipson.

Affectionally known as Mama Stella to her grands and the community, she touched many lives. 

She leaves to cherish her memories are six children, Mary Edwards, Los Angeles, CA, Patricia Campbell and Julia Edwards, Bristol, Paula LaCount, Orlando, FL, Hattie Edwards, Jacksonville, FL and Earnest (Remanda) Edwards, Douglas; she raised five of her grandchildren: Malcolm (Debbie) Edwards, Bristol, Nikki (Shawn) Price, Kingsland, Royzell (Amorita) Cooper, Waycross and Keon Cooper, Blackshear; two god-sons: Douglas Wilcox, Waycross and Adolphus (Kara) White, Yulee, FL; special cousin, James (Ella) Pinkney, Miami, FL; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and countless great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and loving friends.

Visitation will take place from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home, 505 Ware Street, Blackshear.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, from the Bristol Baptist Church with Pastor Wade NeSmith bringing words of comfort and where Bro. Brett Howell is the pastor.

Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Blackshear.
