Carol Jackson Dixon, 84, of Blackshear, passed away late Friday evening, January 10, 2020, at Memorial Satilla Health.

Born in Blackshear, September 29, 1935, he had lived in Savannah for many years prior to moving back to Pierce County 12 years ago. He was retired from ADT Security Systems in Savannah but had worked at several other things over the years such as construction and roofing. He loved fishing, watching NASCSAR (he was a Bill Elliott fan) and was a big Ford fan and especially loved the Ford Mustang. He was a wonderful joke teller and loved to make people laugh. He was a hard working man who was always providing for his family. He had the purest, kindest heart and dearly loved his family. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late Pomeroy G. and Idell Altman Dixon. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years who passed away August 2, 2019, Helen Fay Hayman Dixon.

Survivors include his three daughters, Debra (James) Hallex, Ellabell, Vicky Dixon, Blackshear and Helen (Howard) Amelsburg, Ellabell; three sons, Carol Jackson “Buddy” (Darlene) Dixon Jr., Robert “Robbie” Dixon and Billy (Jessica) Dixon, all of Blackshear; two sisters, Peggy (Len) Tennis, Savannah and Wanda (Barney) O’Steen, Blackshear; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
