Bobby Eugene Taylor Sr., 80, of Patterson, passed away Tuesday morning, June 30, 2020, in Wayne County, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born March 31, 1940 in Pierce County, he was a son of the late Elder Elisha Fulton and Ivalee Crosby Taylor. He lived most of his life in Patterson and was a 1957 graduate of Patterson High School. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army, the United States Coast Guard and retired from the Georgia Air National Guard 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron. He was also retired as a nuclear mechanic with Georgia Power at Plant Hatch.
Following retirement, he enjoyed delivering cars for several vehicle dealerships in Jesup and being a loving, full time Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Screven Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Johnson and a brother, Nickey Taylor.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Simpson Taylor, Patterson; four children, Bobby Eugene Taylor Jr. (wife Robin), St. Marys, Brenda Mansfield and Beverley Johnson (husband Michael), all of Patterson, and Danny Taylor (wife Lori), Blackshear; eight grandchildren, David Taylor, Atlanta, Beth Cummings (husband Lance) of New Hampshire, Caleb Mansfield, San Antonio, TX, Taylor Smith, Patterson, Dalton Johnson (wife Nicole), Brin Taylor and Kinley Taylor, all of Blackshear, and Matt Phillips, Kingsland; six great- grandchildren, Roland and Sawyer Johnson, both of Blackshear, Jasidy and Harland Smith, both of Patterson, and Lilly and Clara Phillips, both of Kingsland; sister, Betty Johnson (husband Elder Alvin), Patterson, brother, Billy Taylor (wife Janet), Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Friday, July 3, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt Denison officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery near Patterson. Closing prayers will be conducted at the graveside service by the Rev. Jerry Herndon.
