Bobbie Ann Strickland O’Quinn

Bobbie Ann Strickland O’Quinn, 74, of Blackshear, passed away suddenly Saturday night, April 27, 2019, following a short illness.

Born April 10, 1945 in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Leroy and Myrtice Hutchinson Strickland. She lived most of her life in Pierce County and was a 1963 graduate of Blackshear High School. She had been a longtime housewife but had helped friends with decorating and redesigning their homes. 

She was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and attended the Ron Spell’s Sunday School Class. She had taught Sunday school and loved being a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Classy Red Hatters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Russell O’Quinn; her brother, Jerry Strickland and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Darcille and Frank Dixon, Colleen Allen and Jimmie Padgett.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, April and Chad Hendley, Blackshear; her grandson, Collin Russell Hendley, Blackshear; a brother, Tommy Johnson of Utah; two brothers-in-law, Harry Padgett, Savannah and Wayne O’Quinn, Blackshear; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Strickland, Elaine Moody (husband Stanley) and Donna Tanner (husband Frank), all of Blackshear; long-time family friend, Sis Young, Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, from the Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Stone officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 217 West Carter Avenue, Blackshear, GA 31516 or to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
