Arlen Dorsey Smith, 84, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday morning, April 8, 2020, at his sister’s residence.

Born in Patterson, September 16, 1935, he had lived in Miami for several years prior to moving back to Wayne County in the early 1980s. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired carpenter who truly enjoyed his job. He also loved to fish – a lot!  He was a member of Ritch Baptist Church.

He was a son of the late Algernon Beal and Ethel Boyett Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jean Macomber Smith; two sisters, Madeline Dickson and Jackie Tubell and by three brothers, Raymond Smith, Jerdon “Johnny” Smith Sr. and Phillip Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Smith and Artie Smith both of Miami, FL; his sister, JoAnn Dickson, Sylvester; three brothers, Edsel Smith, Cleveland, TN, Glenn (Gail) Smith, Bristol and J.C. (Suzette) Smith, Leesburg, FL; a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Smith, Bristol and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Due to COVID-19, the family will have a private graveside service Friday, April 10, at the Ritch Cemetery in Wayne County.
