Archie Norris Jones Sr.

Archie Norris Jones Sr.,  86, of Blackshear passed away Sunday afternoon, November 21, 2021, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, following an extended illness.

Born November 9, 1935 in Tampa, FL, he was a son of the late Archie Harry and Hazel Agnes Thomas Jones. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Navy Reserves and moved to Pierce County in December 1979. He worked for CSX Transportation, retiring in 1995 as a conductor and was a member of Blackshear First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Archie Norris “Scooter” Jones Jr. and his two sisters, Harriet Sanz and Cozett Edwards.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Faye Jones, Blackshear; three sons, Timothy Jones (wife April), Dixie Union and Neil Jones (wife Arlene) and Jonathon Jones, both of Blackshear; daughter-in-law, Linda Jones, Waycross; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Nolan Jones (wife Debbie), Dover, FL and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Boatright and the Rev. Edmund Thrift officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31503.
