The PCHS front office is closed this week (July 4-8) but will resume regular summer hours - Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. - beginning Monday, July 11. Also, the Georgia High School Association’s (GHSA) mandated “dead week” began Monday, July 4 and runs through Sunday, July 10. This means no school teams may conduct conditioning drills, practices or be involved in competition on or off the school’s campus.

It’s back-to-school shopping time, so please remember the dress code policy, effective fall 2022. Girls may wear skirts, jeans, shorts and slacks. Dresses and skirts shall be no more than 2” above the knee (the height of one business card). For boys and girls, no pants and/or jeans may be worn that are ripped, torn, or frayed where skin and/or undergarments may be exposed more than 3” above the kneecap. No excessively large holes in jeans are permitted, even when skin is covered. Thanks for keeping it classy!

For those entering the 11th grade this fall: if you will be at least 16 years old you will need proof of an MCV4 (Meningococcal) booster shot. You can get this booster at the health department or at most local physicians.

PCHS Football resumes its summer workouts on Monday, July 11 with varsity players on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. until noon at the high school. Ninth graders work out from 9 to 11 on Thursday. Practice in full pads begins Monday, August 1.

PCHS volleyball takes the court this fall for its inaugural home season and you can watch the home games (Aug. 9, Aug. 16, Sept. 6, and Sept. 20), plus selected road games, on the NFHS Network. Upcoming testing windows for GHSA rules coaching clinics are as follows: cross country (July 12-Aug. 1), fast-pitch softball (July 12-Aug. 2), volleyball/volleyball scorekeeping (July 20-Aug. 9), and football (July 30-Aug. 20). Clinics and testing are conducted online at ghsa.net.

The award-winning PCHS Sound of Silver announces the following camp dates: “Rookie Camp” is July 18-21 (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.), percussion and auxiliary is July 18-22 (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.), and full camp will be held July 25-29 (8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.). All camp sessions will be held at the high school.

All teachers who plan on driving a school bus or the activity bus for the next school year will need to have a yearly physical conducted at Ascension St. Vincent’s Urgent Care, 615 Pendleton Street in Waycross. The dates available are July 11-28.

Also, this year’s safety renewal class for bus drivers will be at the high school auditorium on July 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is mandatory training for those who drive school buses or the activity bus. Please enter the high school at the basketball entrance/student parking/tennis courts. Questions may be directed to Jamie Henderson, transportation director, at 449-2095.
