Patterson Police Chief Jason Strickland has resigned.
The chief will officially step down from his duties next Wednesday, September 15.
Efforts to reach Patterson Mayor Dedi Thomas for comment were unsuccessful over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
In his letter, Strickland said he had decided to make a career change. Rumors of his pending resignation have circulated recently.
Strickland recently started his own business, Waterworks Exterior Services, LLC, a house pressure washing service.
Strickland has served as Patterson’s chief since August 2013.
A native of Ware County, he has been in law enforcement for the past 22 years including 12 years with the Patterson Police Department. He previously worked with Blackshear Police Deparment, Ware County Sheriff’s Office and Kingsland Police Department.
