A Blackshear man is recovering after he was shot last Thursday morning. No arrests have been made in connection with the event.
Craig Henderson, 28, of Blackshear, was shot in the hand in the incident which occurred on Willow Lane between 9:30-10 a.m. last Thursday. Willow Lane is in the Ware and Cherry Street areas of the county just outside the city limits of Blackshear.
“We continue to investigate the incident,” said Pierce County Sheriff Ramsey Bennett. “That is about all I can say for now.”
Bennett asks the public if they saw anything or have any information about the shooting to please call 911 or the sheriff’s office at 449-2011.
Law enforcement sources told The Times the investigation has been hindered by few leads and a lack of cooperation in the case.
A neighbor called 911 to report gunfire in the area and noticed a car or cars speeding away.
According to reports, no one at the residence where the shooting took place called 911.
Henderson was reported to have arrived by private vehicle at the emergency room at Memorial Satilla in Waycross within the hour after the shooting.
