Paraders march through town

Pierce County’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade  marched through downtown Blackshear under bright sunshine and a beautiful blue sky Monday morning. The annual parade was the only event of this year’s celebration, which was scaled down because of concerns over COVID-19 (coronavirus). Grand marshal Clarence Washington, Patterson native and local assistant principal, led off the parade, which also included the Pierce County Sound of Silver Band, marchers, local dignitaries, three wheelers, horseback riders and local church and business representatives.
