BPD arrests one suspect in early Mon. morning incident

A Pierce County Recreation Department employee was the victim of an attempted armed robbery early Monday morning, September 28.

Blackshear Police Department arrested 33-year-old Blackshear resident, Todrick Coley, Monday evening after reportedly identifying him from surveillance video at the Rec. Dept. Coley is charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery.
According to Police Chief Chris Wright, the Rec. Dept. employee was opening the concession stand and other facilities at the Recreation Department at approximately 6 a.m. Monday morning when Coley approached him, said he was hungry, and asked for food. The employee agreed to get Coley food, but then he reportedly demanded money and reportedly brandished a weapon.
“The victim said he would get him something to eat and then the guy said he wanted all of his money, too,” Wright says. “He had a blunt object in his hand and he attempted to hit the (victim).”
The two men tussled briefly before Coley reportedly grabbed a bottle of bleach water nearby and sprayed the rec. dept. employee in the eyes. He then fled the scene.
County Manager Jason Rubenbauer told The Times Monday afternoon the county employee was “shaken up” but otherwise unharmed.
