Children skated, visited Santa Claus, took train rides around the city Park
Christmas in the Park was cancelled Friday night due to cold, rainy weather, but Better Hometown extended the event hours Saturday and organizers say attendance was steady throughout the day.
The event ran smoothly with no complaints, says Better Hometown Manager Bethany Strickland.
“When the sun went down, they really wanted to ice skate. They showed up,” Strickland says.
Food and craft vendors were also pleased with the turnout, Strickland says.
Kiddos ice skated on a temporary rink set up at the tennis court, sat in Santa’s lap and rode the Christmas train around the Park. They also took photos with other special characters – Mr. Grinch, the Chipmunks, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph.
Christian rock band We Are Vessel and Jenna Parr performed a Christmas show in the Park Saturday night to wrap up the event.
