Antique stores and boutiques in downtown Blackshear were buzzing with business last Friday and Saturday as residents frequented area shops during the annual Shop Small promotion, a national campaign sponsored locally to boost holiday sales and support Pierce County’s economy.
Most shoppers told The Times they were checking items off their Christmas shopping lists — to much success according to reports by several business owners.
Employees at Country Bumpkins reported this year’s Black Friday and Shop Small Saturday season marked their busiest one yet, definitely busier than last year.
Tonya Thompson, owner of Dogwood Memories agreed. She nearly sold out of Christmas decorations and ornaments last weekend.
Some downtown businesses partnered together, telling customers of deals available at stores across the road or down the street as shoppers strolled from shop to shop.
Other shops offered promotional items for customers. Josiah’s Blessings gave out single-serve bags of Marich Chocolate to each customer.
