Blackshear Police are looking for an Atlanta man as a person of interest in an arson fire that damaged two units of the Country Manor Apartments early Sunday morning.
Russell Leon Warner, 49, of Atlanta is wanted on charges of terrorist threats and actions and stalking, according to Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright.
According to Wright, the Blackshear Volunteer Fire Department and officers with the Blackshear Police Department were called to a report of a fire at Country Manor on Pomeroy Street at 5:07 a.m. Sunday morning.
“The fire damaged two units of the apartments and displaced two families,” said Wright.
Wright said the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the fire and determines the blaze had been intentionally set.
Wright said a resident of one of the apartments had been in an altercation with Warner the night before.
Saturday night’s investigation led officers to take warrants against Warner for terroristic threats and actions and stalking.
“He is a person of interest in the arson case,” Wright said.
He declined additional comment citing the ongoing investigation.
The Georgia Arson Control Board offers an award of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in setting the fire.
