Blackshear’s annual Christmas Parade will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6.
The theme of this year’s parade will be “Toy Trains and Candy Canes.”
“Better Hometown Blackshear is hoping to create a festive atmosphere by having all the windows in the Main Street District decorated with the theme of this year’s Christmas Parade,” Better Hometown Manager Bethany Strickland said.
Two local artists are being tapped to accomplish the task.
The parade will travel through downtown, leaving Emmanuel Baptist Church at the corner of Carter Avenue and Gordon Street and proceed south on Main Street to its end at Tiger Field at the Board of Education office.
Entry for the parade is $10. Deadline to register is Wednesday, December 1.

In addition to the parade, BHT will also sponsor Pictures with Santa in the Park will be held Saturday, December 11. The event will be held in conjunction with the Second Annual Christmas Cruise In Classic Car Show.
BHT’s main focus this year will be “Shop Small, Shop Local”. Pierce County merchants are participating in the “Shop Small Christmas Crawl”. A total of 32 businesses have joined in the punch card system, where any purchase qualifies as a punch. Those who gather 15 “punches” will be entered to win a gift basket valued at over $800. Shop Small Christmas Crawl starts on Shop Small Saturday, Nov 27 and runs through Dec. 15.
