Bear football season will kick off Friday, Sept. 4, but new procedures — including fan capacity limits — will be in place due to COVID-19 (coronavirus).
The 2020 football season is set to get underway at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 4, with the Bears playing host to the Brunswick Pirates.
The PCHS administration will implement new safety measures to provide a safer environment for fans, staff and students.
Attendance at Bear Stadium will be limited to 60 percent capacity for all games. Tickets will be $8. Student tickets will be sold at all lunches in the PCHS cafeteria Monday, August 31-Wednesday, Sept. 2.
General public ticket sales will be from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, and Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the new PCHS ticket booth, located in the large student parking lot near the tennis courts. This will be the public’s only opportunity to purchase tickets in person using cash. Any remaining unsold tickets will be made available for purchase on the GoFan digital ticket site at 8 a.m. Thursday, September 3. These tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis until all available tickets are sold. Ticket booths will be closed on game day.
GoFan provides fast, easy access to high school event tickets. To purchase tickets, fans should download the GoFan app to their mobile device. To enter the stadium, fans should open the GoFan app and display their e-tickets to the gatekeeper, who will validate them. GoFan does add a small convenience charge to the cost of each ticket.
Fans are encouraged to socially distance whenever possible and to wear face masks. Any fan with underlying health conditions or who is considered to be in a high-risk category is encouraged to follow Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines when deciding whether to attend games.
For the convenience of fans who are unable to attend games in person, PCHS will be broadcasting all home football games via the NFHS network. NFHS is a subscription service that allows fans to view PCHS sports and events, as well as approximately 1,200 other high schools live or on-demand nationwide. Fans can subscribe to NFHS Network by downloading the app or visiting nfhsnetwork.com at a price of $10.99 per month or $69.99 annually. PCHS is recognized as a national leader in high school sports broadcasting, having been recognized as an Elite National school each of the past seven years.
Fans can also catch the Bears via radio at 97.7 FM WWUF.
The procedures will be reassessed each week and may be adjusted throughout the season.
