Robert Lawton Sapp
Robert Lawton Sapp, 76, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, January 19, 2010, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born November 2, 1933 in Pierce County, he had lived in Florida before moving back to Pierce County in 1981. He had owned Blackshear Heating and Cooling and was a US Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member and deacon at Southgate Baptist Church and loved to hunt, fish and garden. He was a son of the late Arthur Allen Sr. and Azalee Shuman Sapp and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Altman Sapp; a great-grandchild, Kadence Howard; his sister, Clara Jo Sapp; and a brother, Earl Sapp.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Bunch Sapp, Blackshear; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Kenny Taylor, Marion, NC and Susan and David Justice and Renea Sapp Taylor, all of Blackshear; a son, David Earl Sapp, Waycross; four brothers, Eddie Sapp, Carl (Ruthie) Sapp, Allen (Linda) Sapp and Ray (Lori) Sapp all of Blackshear; six grandchildren, Summer (Casey) Johnson, Robert Justice, Keleah Johnson (fiance’ Ronnie McGlothlin, Jr.), Kateah Sapp, Tricia Justice and Leigha Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Allie Johnson, Donovan Johnson and Abigail Johnson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, from the Southgate Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the St. Johns Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
